Rioja Restaurant Week Kicks Off This Sunday

April 21st, 2009

Vibrant Rioja is hosting its annual Rioja Restaurant Week in New York coming up this Sunday, April 26th-May 2nd. Visit any restaurant on their list of 50, and get great deals on Rioja including $25-$50 prixe fixe meals with a free glass of wine or 20% off a bottle of Rioja. There are some really exciting restaurants on the list this year, including some of my personal favorites like:

Lure Fish Bar
The Harrison
Bottino
Bond St Sushi
Mermaid Inn
ilili
Barbounia
Stanton Social

The one disappointing aspect of the list is that I only see 1 Spanish restaurant, Las Ramblas, which I haven’t been to. What’s up Tia Pol, Txikito, Alta, Pipa , Boqueria? I would have hoped that some of these great Spanish restaurants would support Rioja wines.

Rioja produces everything from complex, hardy reds with rich cherry flavors made from Tempranillo to crisp whites made from Viura and Malvasia. Some of the best vintages, worth seeking out are 2001 and 2005 for reds. This is a great opportunity to experience these wines! Enjoy.
