An interesting post over at DrVino.com, poses the question:
If the queen were coming for dinner, what wine would you serve? A Grand Cru Bordeaux? A crisp New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc? Well, why don’t we just ask George Bush who recently had the queen over for the state dinner. In true Bush administration style, the wines were all American. After all, we are an island and it doesn’t matter so much if we respect other countries. Here is the menu from that famed dinner:
Spring Pea Soup with Fernleaf Lavender
Chive Pizzelle with American Caviar
Newton Chardonnay “Unfiltered†2004
(Chardonnay and pea soup? Yuck)
Dover Sole Almondine
Roasted Artichokes, Pequillo Peppers and Olives
Saddle of Spring Lamb
Chanterelle Sauce
Fricassee of Baby Vegetables
Peter Michael “Les Pavots†Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Arugula, Savannah Mustard and Mint Romaine
Champagne Dressing and Trio of Farmhouse Cheeses
“Rose Blossoms†Schramsberg Brut Rosé 2004
(Champagne dressing with Champagne? How brilliantly tacky)
No respect for the old world (i.e. France, Italy) or even any up and coming new world countries. Is anyone surprised?

I make a mean salmon teriyaki/angelhair pasta dish that would have the Queen firing her entire culinary staff.
Drinks? What gets a queen drunk??
I’d give her a shot of Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey and say “welcome to America!”
Take it from a Brit - I think you’re worrying too much.
Like most of the people in this country, she’d probably prefer to get drunk on cheap beer.
:)
hahaha, you may be right.
plus, pea soup and anything, yuck
